As part of the 2014 budget, the City of Spokane has eliminated the Bike/Pedestrian Coordinator position. I've been hearing from a lot of people who consider this a step backward in making our community a safe and pleasant one for people to ride in. The Bicycle Alliance of Washington is calling for more discussion on this topic with a petition they're asking people to sign. The petition says:
"We the undersigned ask for a constructive public discussion about our multimodal future and for a public commitment to specific, measurable goals, progress reports, and process improvements that move us–together–beyond a cars-first approach."
