Why drive when you can be towed? If you drive an airplane anyway. Jet fuel is extremely expensive and apparently a lot of it gets burned just taxiing from the gate to the runway. A new robot in Germany is aimed at reducing this waste by towing planes to the takeoff position. Here's more about it.
