Second Ave. Design May Reach Compromise

Second Avenue in downtown Spokane will be repaved as planned this summer, but now city leaders say there's the possibility the road could be reduced to three lanes in order to add a bike lane.

Spokane City Councilmen Richard Rush and Jon Snyder had pushed for a complete revamping of the street’s design, which could have delayed the project a year or more. It now looks like a compromise may be reached.

Here's more from the Spokesman-Review.

YES!!!

This would be a fantastic way to draw more cyclists downtown: the type who are uncomfortable sharing a lane, but who know it's against the law to ride on the sidewalks.

Second with a bike lane (and Third for the other way), and turn Howard into a bicycle boulevard, and downtown is looking a lot more bike friendly. (Not to say that it hasn't already improved due to the recent addition of so many bike racks)

Was that you that did the map of the bike racks Rachel? If so, thanks for doing that. Very helpful.
