SPOKANE VALLEY

32^nd Avenue from Dishman-Mica Road to University Road - Closed through mid-August for street preservation work. Signs detour traffic via Dishman-Mica Road and University Road.

32^nd Avenue from University Road to Pines Road - Reduced to one lane each direction through mid-August. The south sidewalk is closed. Anticipate brief interruptions to side streets and driveways from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Flora Road between Mission Avenue and Boone Avenue - Reduced to one lane with flaggers directing traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8 and Tuesday, Aug. 9; then closed to all but local traffic from Wednesday, Aug. 10 through Thurs., August 26 for utility and access work. A detour via Boone Avenue, Arc Street and Mission Avenue is posted.

McDonald Road from Sprague Avenue to 16^th Avenue - Closed to all but local traffic through Friday, Sept. 2 for resurfacing and other improvements. Intersections at 4^th Avenue and 8^th Avenue are closed.  Detours are posted.  Access to businesses remain available.  Expect brief interruptions to driveway access with those affected notified directly in advance.  Signs redirect pedestrians.

Mission Avenue between Lilly Road and Park Road - Expect narrow lanes through the end of August. Full closures to be announced. Signs will detour traffic via Thierman Road, Broadway Avenue and Park Road. Park Road between Nora Avenue and Mission Avenue - Expect narrow lanes through the end of August. Expect a full closure to be announced near the end of August. Signs detour traffic via Mission Avenue, Vista Road and Trent Avenue. Anticipate brief interruptions to driveway access, those affected will be contacted directly in advance.

Pines Road at Mirabeau Parkway intersection - Reduced to one lane southbound. Expect the driveway on the west side of Pines Road at Mirabeau Parkway to Trent Elementary School and Mirabeau Chapel to be closed. Access remains available at other driveways.

Southbound Sullivan Road Bridge across the Spokane River- Traffic remains reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound. Turns from Indiana Avenue onto northbound Sullivan Road are reduced to one lane. Southbound Sullivan Road at Flora Pit Road will be reduced to one lane August 1-5, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SPOKANE CITY
1st Avenue Et Al, Erie to Helena- Work on the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Ivory Street has started. Other streets involved include: 1^st Avenue from Erie Street to Helena Street,  Perry Street from 1^st Avenue to Sprague Avenue, Ivory Street from 2^nd Avenue to Sprague Avenue, Helena Street from 1^st Avenue to Sprague Avenue,  Perry Street from 2^nd Avenue to Hogan Street. This project will provide storm water conveyance to Pacific and Perry Infiltration Facility and replace old water distribution lines. The project also includes associated street construction.

37th Avenue, Regal Street to Custer Street- 37^th Avenue from Freya to Custer Street is closed.  37^th is closed at Havana Street. The detour route is Glenrose to Palouse Highway to Regal Street. This work is to reconstruct the road, include pavement replacement, curbs, sidewalk, bike lanes, stormwater piping, and a 36 inch water main.

Residential Grind and Overlay Project- The following 2016 Grind and Overlay residential pavement preservation projects have started.  This work includes subgrade repair, crack sealing, ADA ramps, and striping.  These projects require a full closure during the work:

• Garfield Street from 26^th Avenue to Rockwood Boulevard.
• Madison Street from Boone to Sinto, Sharp from Madison to Jefferson and Cedar Street from Boone to Sharp
• Lee Street from Mission to Nora, Nora from Lee to Crestline, Crestline from Mission to Nora.
• Cannon Street from Kieran to Garland.
• Arthur Street from 37^th to 39^th Avenue

Ben Burr Trail and Connection to the Centennial Trail- Work continues along the trail at 3^rd Avenue and Arthur and 2^nd Avenue and Perry. This project will design and construct a shared use paved trail connection for bicyclists and pedestrian as well as security lighting installation. The project will be from the Centennial Trail at the Gonzaga Bridge southeast of Erie Street and continuing to Liberty Park where a connection will be made to the existing Ben Burr Trail. The trail will then continue on the existing Ben Burr Trail to the trailhead immediately south of Underhill Park.

Bridge Avenue and Monroe Street CSO Work- Summit Blvd/Bridge Avenue is closed to traffic. Lincoln has one northbound lane open. Lincoln southbound is closed at Broadway with local access maintained. This project will construct a Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO) tank and the necessary piping for our Cleaner River Faster Program.

Bridge Inspection Work- Inspection of the Washington North Bridge is scheduled for Thursday, August 4^th. The south bound curb land will be inspected first from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. The north bound curb lane will be inspected from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Hatch Road Grind and Overlay Work- Hatch Road opens today from Hangman to Hwy 195.
Crews are grinding Hatch, working downhill from 57^th Avenue to Hwy 195. Crews are working on the mid-section currently with the section nearest Hwy 195 being the last segment to be completed.  

Hazel's Creek Stormwater Treatment Project- Work continues on Freya south of 37^th Avenue on a stormwater treatment system with disposal ponds and stormwater piping. 

Indiana Avenue from Dakota to Perry Street- Work continues along Indiana Ave., beginning at Perry St. and proceeding from East to West.  Indiana Ave. from Ruby St. to Perry St. is closed with East-West traffic detoured to Mission Ave., Montgomery Ave. and Illinois Ave. North-South arterials within the construction zone at Hamilton Ave. and Perry St. are open. This project will include curb ramps, storm swales, new curb, waterline replacement, signal installation work and some parking removal.

Main Avenue and Division Street Intersection Improvements- Work begins on the east corners of the intersection of Division and Main on Monday, August 1. The work includes sidewalk removal and excavation for underground storm water improvements.  Pedestrian detours will be in place and business access will be maintained. Throughout the project there will be lane restrictions on both Main and Division. Work on this project involves curb bumpouts at all four corners of Division Street and Main Avenue, the removal and replacement of existing curbs, gutters, and sidewalks, ADA upgrades, installation of planter boxes and planting.

Martin Luther King Jr. Way Phase 2A Sherman to Erie Street- Work on the Martin Luther King Jr. Way extension has started. Phase 2A is an extension of Martin Luther King Jr. Way from Sherman to Erie Street. This is a continuation of the Riverside Extension Phase 1 project. This project will provide an efficient transportation route that eliminates several safety issues and increases capacity into and out of the downtown area while passing along the south edge of the University District. These improvements include a new asphalt pavement street, utility infrastructure, storm drainage improvements, street lighting, street trees, and re-vegetation with native species. In lieu of sidewalks, the project proposes to construct a section of the Ben Burr trail to provide pedestrian circulation. The trail will be separated from the roadway traffic and aligned parallel to the Spokane River, allowing pedestrians through access with greater aesthetic experience. The right-of-way area for the sidewalk will be used to provide bike lanes and planting/storm water treatment areas.

Monroe/Lincoln Street Couplet, 8th Avenue to 2nd Avenue- Work on Monroe Street from 4th Ave. south to 8^th Ave. continues. One lane southbound on Monroe Street has reopened. Northbound traffic will continue to be detoured until the project is complete. Lincoln Street is closed for 6 weeks. 5^th Avenue will be open to east and west traffic late Thursday, July 28. There will be intermittent closures at the intersection of Lincoln and 5^th Avenue as the City works on storm and water lines. The on ramp for eastbound traffic at Monroe is open. Traffic exiting Maple Street eastbound will be detoured off of 4^th at Jefferson Street. This project reconstructs the roadway from 8^th to 2^nd Avenue and installs storm water and water facilities. 

Monroe and Lincoln Street, Main Avenue to 2nd Avenue- This is a full depth roadway replacement between curbs on Lincoln Street and Monroe Street; Main Avenue from Monroe Street to Lincoln Street; and Monroe Street from Spokane Falls Boulevard to Main Avenue. Some minor curbing and ADA curb ramps will be installed where necessary. Traffic control is in place to minimize the effects of backups during peak traffic hours.  Drivers are asked to be patient and to exercise caution when in the construction zone. Both Monroe and Lincoln have lane restrictions with four way stop signs located at the intersections of 1st, Sprague, and Riverside Avenues.

Pettet Drive/TJ Meenach Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO 12) Project- Pettet Drive is closed until November. The clover leaf that services TJ Meenach, Down River and Pettet Drive (three out of the four legs) is open. The leg that comes off of Pettet, northbound will re-direct citizens to Northwest Blvd. Vehicles traveling southbound on Down River Drive have two options; enter onto TJ Meenach or continue under the bridge and turn uphill to Northwest Blvd. This project will build a 690,000 gallon storage facility and connections to existing CSO Basin 10 outfall.  Work also includes repaving of Pettet Drive and pedestrian/bike trail construction.

US 2/Sunset Blvd. to I-90- Weekday evenings from about 7 p.m. until as late as 6 a.m. the following morning, be alert for possible lane restrictions for guardrail upgrades.

US 2-Division Street/Curb and Sidewalk- Northbound Division Street is reduced to one or two lanes for curb and sidewalk improvements.

I-90 Eastbound/Hamilton Street Ramp- Monday and Tuesday, August 1-2, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the eastbound I-90 off ramp to northbound Hamilton Street will be reduced to one lane for pavement repairs.

I-90/Westbound Freya Off-Ramp- On Friday, July 29, beginning at 7 p.m. until Monday, August 1 at 6 a.m. westbound I-90 will be reduced to two lanes.  Westbound drivers should be alert for slow traffic, congestion, and some delays. The westbound Sprague Avenue on-ramp and westbound Freya off-ramp will remain open. The Fancher Road westbound on-ramp will be closed with a signed detour in place.  In addition, from 11 p.m. Friday, July 29 until 3 a.m. Saturday, July30, westbound I-90 will be reduced to 1 through lane for setup of temporary concrete barrier.  This will be repeated for temporary barrier removal on Sunday evening, July 31, into Monday morning at 3 a.m. Second Avenue is now closed between Havana Street and Freya Street. Also, on Saturday, July 30, during the day in non-commute hours, northbound Freya Street will be reduced to two lanes between Third Avenue and Second Avenue. Crews are constructing a new westbound Freya Street off-ramp approximately ¼ mile to the east of the current one.

US 395-Division Street/Hawthorne Rd. Intersection- Hawthorne Road is closed east and west of Division.  Division Street turn lanes are closed.  All mainline lanes of Division are open. Crews are working on intersection improvements and a new signal system.

SPOKANE COUNTY

Market Street (Parksmith to Farwell)- Finishing up project, shoulder work, clean up

Road Open to traffic, Watch for flaggers and possible lane restrictions.

Seven Mile Bridge & Seven Mile Road- Bridge deck work, bypass Road in Place with a reduced speed limit of 25 mph.

Hawthorne Road West (Waikiki to US395)- Road reconstruction, stormwater drainage swales, trees, irrigation, curb, signal improvement, bike lane, striping. The road is closed until the end of August. There is a marked detour.

Hawthorne Road East (US395 to US2)- Road reconstruction, stormwater sand filters, curb, signal, bike, striping. The road is closed and on-street parking prohibited.

Local Road Construction Update

SPOKANE COUNTY

Market Street (Parksmith to Farwell)- Sewer, fiber optic, and road rehabilitation work starts Monday, April 11. Expect traffic restrictions from the railroad crossing just norht of Parksmith Drive to Farwell Road. Improvements include two 11 foot lanes, a center two-way left turn lane and bike lanes as well as sidewalks and curbs.

Belle Terre Ave, Evergreen Road and 41^st- Installation of sewer and water main with a full width road reconstruction. View Road Closure / Detour Route Map here.

WSDOT

I-90/Eastbound Monroe St. On- Ramp- Beginning Monday, April 11 until as late as Friday, April 22, the eastbound I-90/Monroe Street On Ramp will be closed 24 hours per day for storm water pipe installation. Surface street traffic will be directed to the Division/Browne on ramp via a signed detour.

SPOKANE CITY

1^ST Avenue from Erie Street to Altamont Street- This project is a pavement preservation project with ADA ramps, striping, and pavement work continued from last year.  Remaining work has resumed on 1^st Avenue from Helena to Altamont Street.  Traffic impacts are minimal.  

Addison/Standard Bicycle/Pedestrian Corridor from Buckeye to Holland- Work to install signs and striping layout begins Monday, April 11.  Work is on Lincoln and Standard heading north to Magnesium.  This work will be for sidewalk and driveway installation. This project will complete a major bicycle and pedestrian corridor.  It will add new bike lanes and sidewalks along the entire corridor and make improvements to existing bike lanes.

Bridge Avenue and Monroe Street CSO Work- Work begins Monday, April 18 on this project to construct a Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO) tank and the necessary piping.

Hartson Avenue from Altamont Street to Fiske Street-  Access is limited between Smith Street and Altamont Street for a full depth roadway reconstruction, filling sidewalk gaps, replacing curbing where needed and installing ADA curb ramps.

Havana Street from Glenrose Road to 37th Avenue- Work on Havana Street has begun, requiring a full closure of the street. Improvements include full width pavement replacement, complete sidewalk gaps and pilot project porous asphalt bicycle lanes.  This project will also include installation of a water main between 37^th Avenue and the Brown Park reservoirs at 57^th Avenue.

High Drive and Hatch Road- Work on this project has resumed from winter shutdown.  43^rd Avenue is closed from Scott to Garfield Street.  Further paving on 43^rd is scheduled for April 11.

This project will construct a storage facility for CSO Basin 20, with connecting piping, interceptor inlet vault, flush systems, regulator and controls at 43^rd Avenue and Garfield Street. This work is part of the Combined Sewer Overflow program. 

Indiana Avenue from Dakota to Perry Street- The water department is conducting pre-construction work along this project.  Indiana will have temporary closures at times with a detour route during this scheduled work. This project will include curb ramps, storm swales, new curb, waterline replacement, signal installation work and some parking removal.

Monroe/Lincoln Street Couplet, 8th Avenue to 2nd Avenue- Work on Monroe Street from 4th Ave. south to 8^th Ave. has begun.  Monroe Street is closed to traffic.


o   The on ramp for eastbound traffic at Monroe is closed April 11 – 22 for pipe installation work
o   Traffic exiting Maple Street eastbound will be detoured off of 4^th at Jefferson Street
o   The alternative route during the Lincoln Monroe Project is the converted two-way traffic on Lincoln.  This is for local access and access to businesses. 
o   The official detour route is Stevens and is clearly marked
o   Alternative routes are not clearly marked as they are local and business access routes
o   Due to some work in 4^th Ave. at the start of the project, Lincoln will be inaccessible from Monroe on 4^th during the first few weeks.  
o   During that phase, Lincoln will be accessible via 3^rd to Wall then back from the east on either 4^th or 5^th.  This will be during the work in the Monroe/4^th intersection and 4^th Ave. which should last about 3 weeks. 

This project reconstructs the roadway from 8^th to 2^nd Avenue and installs storm water and water facilities.  The portion of this project that reconstructed the street from 2^nd to 4^th Avenues is substantially complete.

Random Items to Take Note of:

·      o  Bacon Concrete will install a crosswalk on the Palouse Highway from 4/11-4/15.
       o  Sefnco Communications will close the right lane on both directions of the Cheney-Spokane Road to trench/bore in the right-of-way to place new PVC pipe from 4/11-4/22.

You may notice that projects underway now are more prominent while ones that will start later this construction season are more in the background.

WSDOT

I-90/Hamilton Interchange Bridge- On Saturday evening, Oct. 3 from about 8 p.m. until as late as 6 a.m. Sunday morning, eastbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane for bridge joint repairs. Expect slow traffic.

US 195-Southbound/I-90 to Excelsior Road- Be alert for southbound US 195 reduced to one lane in multiple work areas with possible slower traffic for pavement repairs. A temporary speed reduction of 45 MPH is in effect for the southbound lanes.  

SR 290-Trent Ave./Sullivan Road to Idaho State Line-Sullivan ramps are scheduled to be closed as follows: Westbound Sullivan off and on ramps October 1 (Thursday) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  Eastbound Sullivan off and on ramps October 2 (Friday) from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  Also lane reductions will be in place for Sullivan between SR290 ramps and Wellesley on Wednesday September 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday October 1 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving.           

SPOKANE CITY           

Art on the Avenue Street Closures- Magnolia and Pittsburg north and south of Sprague will be closed for the annual Art on the Avenue event. Sprague will remain open.        

Rowan Avenue form Driscoll Boulevard to Alberta Street- “A” Street is closed Tuesday, through Friday, September 25 between Wellesley and Francis Avenue and includes work for waterline infrastructure and storm components. This project is for reconstruction work from Driscoll Blvd. to Monroe Street. The project also includes installation of bike lanes, filling sidewalk gaps and replacing water lines.        

Erie Street from 1st Avenue to the BNSF Overpass- Work on Erie continues for sewer repairs.  Erie is closed from 1^st Avenue to the BNSF overpass.  This work will pave Erie from 1^st to the BNSF overpass.  This project will complete the paving at Sprague Way.

F Street from Rosamond Avenue to 6th Avenue- Work includes subgrade repair, crack sealing, modifying ADA ramps, striping and traffic control. Work is expected to wrap up October 6.

1st Avenue from Helena to Altamont- Storm sewer installation has begun from Crestline to Madelia. This project is a residential grind and overlay pavement preservation project that includes subgrade repair, crack sealing, ADA ramps, striping and traffic control as necessary. Closure of 1^st Avenue will last until October. The corner of Napa and 1^st will be closed with a detour provided.

Front Avenue Sewer Repair from Erie to Helena Street- Improvements include installing a sewer main, repairs to the existing main and lining existing sewer main with CIPP (cured in place pipe) technology. There will be closures around the work zones. 

Monroe/Lincoln Street Couplet, 4th Avenue to 2nd Avenue- 4^th Avenue has one lane open. Jefferson Street from 3^rd to 4^th Avenue has local access only. Work on Cedar Street between 3^rd and 4^th Avenue is complete. Lincoln and Monroe Street both have limited access along the east half of the street from 2^nd to 4^th Avenue. This project includes reconstruction of the street from 2^nd to 4^th Avenues and will replace the asphalt surfacing, including ADA ramps as needed. 

Ray/Thor Street from 29th Avenue to 17th Avenue- Ray Street is reduced to one lane in both directions, with no left hand turns permitted. Side streets are closed. Improvements include preservation treatments like crack sealing, grind and overlay and pavement rejuvenation techniques. Pedestrian improvements include upgrades to ADA curb ramps and minor curb and sidewalk repairs.

Hartson Avenue from Altamont Street to Fiske Street- Hartson is closed. This project includes full depth roadway section of traveled way, filling sidewalk gaps, replacing curbing where needed and installing ADA curb ramps. The project will also include replacement of water lines.

High Drive, Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard- This project includes pavement reconstruction, storm, sewer, swales, and water main replacement from Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard. The road is closed from Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard. Storm and sewer work is underway.

Havana Street from Glenrose Road to 37th Avenue- Glenrose Road from 57^th Avenue to Havana Street is closed. Work has begun at the intersection of Freya and 44^th with traffic and pedestrian improvements. Improvements include full width pavement replacement, complete sidewalk gaps and bicycle lanes.  This project will also include installation of a water main between 37^th and 57^th.

Division Street Triangle- This project is for beautification improvements to the highly visible entrances to the City. The right hand lane heading west on Spokane Falls Boulevard is closed. Work is scheduled for completion in October. 

SPOKANE VALLEY

32^nd and Collins- Narrowed lanes weekdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. through late October. A pedestrian detour is posted when students are arriving and departing from University High School.

Long between Sprague and 2^nd- Narrowed lanes weekdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. through early October. Access from Long to Sprague will be closed at times; detour via 2^nd to Manifold. A pedestrian detour is posted.

Mansfield between Pines and Houk- Narrow lanes weekdays from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. through late September for utility work and road reconstruction.  Traffic may be reduced to one lane at times with flaggers.  Access to businesses and residents will still be available with brief interruptions

Sprague between Appleway and Arties- Narrow lanes weekdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. through early October. A pedestrian detour is posted.

Sprague between University and Bowdish - Closed on Friday, September 25 for Valleyfest parade from 5:45 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. No turns from University onto eastbound Sprague. Detours via 4^th & Valleyway will be posted.

Sprague between University and Pines- Closed Friday, September 25 for Valleyfest parade from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Gillis, Moffit, Skipworth, Bowdish, Fox, Union, Perrine, and Robie closed at Sprague. Detours via 4^th & Valleyway will be posted.

Sullivan from Trent to Wellesley - May be reduced to one lane in each direction during weekdays for pavement marking work. 

Sullivan Road Bridge Replacement Project Area:

·         The southbound Sullivan Road Bridge across the Spokane River is closed until Summer 2016 for bridge demolition and replacement. Traffic is reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound. 

·         Expect reductions at times to one lane southbound Monday through Friday between 5 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

·         Northbound traffic is restricted to vehicles ten feet wide or less.  Oversized vehicles should use Barker or Pines as alternatives.

·         Turns from Indiana onto northbound Sullivan are reduced to one lane.

·         Expect construction vehicles and flaggers in the work area weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

·         The Centennial Trail below the bridge is closed Monday through Friday 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. 

SPOKANE COUNTY
Christensen Road Bridge- Detour in place as bridge is closed for demolition and reconstruction.

Old Trails/Inland Road- Reconstruction and repaving of the roadway from Marchand Road to Riverside State Park. The road is closed in that section and there are lane restrictions from Seven Mile to the park.

Elliot Road Culvert Replacement- Highway 206 is reduced to one lane near Elliot Road in order to replace a culvert under the roadway.

Local Road Construction Update

WSDOT

US 195 and SR 27 Congestion- On Saturday, Sept. 20, expect congestion on US 195 and SR 27 between Spokane and Pullman, plus SR 26 between Vantage and Colfax, as fans travel to and from the WSU Cougar football game. 

US 2/Espanola Road to Interstate 90- The Flint Road signal that was just installed is scheduled to be activated the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 23.  Later that morning, the Flint Road detour will be removed. Until then, expect intermittent lane closures in the vicinity of Flint Rd.  Flint Road is closed from US 2 to the south. A detour is available.  

US 2/Airport Interchange Vicinity- Today, Thursday, Sept. 18, until as late as 3 p.m., be alert for lane restrictions on US 2 in the vicinity of the airport interchange for bridge joint and deck repairs.  

I-90/Vicinity of University Road- Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 18, from about 9 p.m. until as late as 6 a.m. the following morning, westbound I-90 will be reduced to one through lane for repairs to message signs. Be alert for slow traffic, congestion, and delays.

I-90 Westbound near Stateline- Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 18 and possibly Friday, Sept. 19, from about 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning, westbound I-90 at the Washington/Idaho state line will be reduced to one through lane for repairs. Be alert for slow traffic, congestion, and delays.

SPOKANE VALLEY

Sprague Avenue from University to Vista- Reduced to two lanes westbound for resurfacing, stormwater drainage improvements, and sidewalk work.

Appleway Boulevard from Thierman to Park- Reduced to two lanes through early October for landscaping improvements. The new sidewalk on the south side of the road will be available for pedestrian use for the remainder of the project. 

SPOKANE CITY
Lincoln Street Closure- Lincoln will be closed between 4^th and 5^th for crane hoisting on Sept. 20 and 25. 

3rd Avenue Sidewalk Closure- The sidewalk on the south side of 3^rd and east side of McClellan will be closed for replacement from Sept. 17 until Sept. 26. 

2nd Avenue Closure- The southwest lane on 2^nd between Arthur and Sprague Way will be closed from Sept. 18-22 to paint the Comfort Inn.

Main Sidewalk Closure-  A portion of sidewalk will be closed on Main Avenue between Wall St. and Post St. to place dumpsters. This closure will last until Sept. 27.

Grind and Overlay Project- Pre-leveling and paving on Excell Ct. Monday, and crews will begin "removals" (nope, I don't know what that is either) on Arthur Street from 13^th to Newark Avenues. 

 The project calls for completion of grind and overlay repair on the following streets:

o   Pittsburg Street from Heroy Avenue to Wellesley Avenue and Heroy Avenue from Helena Street to Pittsburg Street. Work is substantially complete.

o   Arthur Street from 13^th Avenue to Newark Avenue (excluding 9^th Avenue west to 9^th Avenue east)

o   Excell Avenue from G Street to the beginning of the cul-de-sac east of Audubon Drive. Removal work has begun.

Addison Street from Columbia to Dalke- Roadway reconstruction is in progress on Calispel. Removals on Addison begin next Monday. This project is for grind and overlay on Addison Street from Columbia Avenue to 525 feet north of Dalke Avenue. Crews will also replace a water main with  in Calispel Street from Wellesley Avenue to Queen Avenue.

Greene Street Bridge Water Main Replacement- Greene Street from Marshall Avenue to Carlisle Avenue will be reduced to one lane each direction starting Sept. 8. for six weeks. Carlisle at Greene will also be closed and a detour in place.  This project is for work on the existing 30” steel water main suspended under the Greene Street Bridge. This project will pull a 24” pipe through the existing 30” steel main. The new pipe will not add weight due to the smaller amount of water flowing through the new pipe.

High Drive from 29th to Bernard Street- This project includes pavement reconstruction, storm, sewer, swales, and water main replacement from 29^th Avenue to Bernard Street. Phase One construction is expected to last until mid-October. Phase Two of this project, Bernard Street to Hatch Road will begin spring of 2015.

Community Development Sidewalk Project- Crews are currently working in the North Hill, West Central, Browne’s Addition, and Peaceful Valley neighborhoods. All street obstructions are minor due to moving equipment. This project involves construction of concrete curb and sidewalk, concrete curb and sidewalk removal.

Francis Avenue from Division to Crestline- Paving is scheduled for the top/final lift of asphalt on the southern half of Francis this Thursday and Friday, followed by traffic island construction next week with touch-up work behind the curb and sidewalks.  On Friday, Sept. 19, there will be a detour affecting eastbound traffic. The detour will take eastbound traffic from Nevada to Wellesley, and from Wellesley to Crestline, before returning to Francis. This project will rehabilitate Francis Avenue from Division to Crestline Streets.  The work is curb to curb and includes installation of ADA curb ramps, where needed. 

SPOKANE COUNTY

Bruce Road Bridge- Closed for replacement.

Country Homes Boulevard- Southbound lanes closed between Cedar and Wall.

Shady Slope Road- Closed between Leona and Little Spokane Drive until mid-October.

Local Road Construction Update

SPOKANE VALLEY

8^th Ave from McKinnon to Fancher - Closed through mid-September for paving, striping and shoulder-work. Signs redirect traffic via Carnahan, 16th and Bettman/Dickey.  

Sprague Ave from Vista to Herald - Reduced to two lanes westbound through early September for resurfacing, stormwater drainage improvements, and sidewalk work.

Appleway Boulevard from Thierman to Park - Reduced to two lanes eastbound through early October for resurfacing, stormwater drainage improvements, and sidewalk work. The new sidewalk on the south side of the road will be available for pedestrian use for the remainder of the project.

Sprague Avenue between University and Pines - Closed Friday, September 19 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Valleyfest Hearts of Gold parade.

SPOKANE CITY
Ruby from Desmet to Boone- One lane and sidewalk closed from Sept. 15-19 for demolition work.

Hawthorne and U.S. 2- Replacement of a damaged signal pole starts Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m. Work is expected to be completed by 3 p.m.  The signal will be placed in red-red flash during this time. Both the northbound and westbound dedicated right turn lanes will remain open, but the adjacent northbound and westbound through-lane will be closed.  As a result, both the northbound and westbound will have only one through lane open.

Main Sidewalk Closure-  The sidewalk on Main between Browne and Division will be closed until Sept.17 for sidewalk repairs.

Main Sidewalk Closure, Take 2- The sidewalk on Main and Howard and a traffic lane on Main will be closed until Sept. 22 to replace sidewalks. 

Main Sidewalk Closure, Take 3- A section of sidewalk on Main between Wall St. and Post St. is closed until Sept. 27 to place dumpsters. 

Howard Street from 1st Ave. to railroad tracks-  Blocked for crane work at the Wells Fargo building.

Division Street Sidewalk Closure- The sidewalk closure at 1120 N. Division has been extended until Sept. 30 for demolition work.

Grind and Overlay Project- Work has resumed on the Excell portion of the project. This will be followed up with asphalt patching, along with new curb and sidewalk construction. The project calls for completion of grind and overlay repair on the following streets:

o   Pittsburg Street from Heroy Avenue to Wellesley Avenue and Heroy Avenue from Helena Street to Pittsburg Street. Work is substantially complete.

o   Arthur Street from 13^th Avenue to Newark Avenue (excluding 9^th Avenue west to 9^th Avenue east)

East Sprague Lane Closure- One lane will be open each direction on Sprague from Hatch to Scott Streets for construction of a combined sewer overflow facility on City property across from the City’s Sewer Maintenance Facility.

Kendick Water Main Installation- Crews will replace an 8-inch water main in Kendick Avenue from approximately 1,200 feet west of Nine Mile Road to Nine Mile road. Detour signage is in place on State Route 291. Current residents will be allowed access to their property.

Greene St. Bridge Lane closure- Greene Street from Marshall Avenue to Carlisle Avenue will be reduced to one lane each direction for six weeks. Carlisle at Greene will also be closed and a detour in place. This project will pull a 24” pipe through the existing 30” steel main suspended under the Greene Street Bridge. The new pipe will not add weight to the bridge due to the smaller amount of water that will be flowing through the new pipe.

Lincoln/Monroe Intersection Construction- A new 4-way stop has been installed at 10^th and Madison to help with traffic in and out of Huckleberry’s Natural Market. Crews expect to have the intersection at 14^th and Lincoln open in the coming weeks. The project includes reconstruction of the street by replacing the asphalt surfacing, including ADA ramps as needed. Lincoln/Monroe street will be closed from 7^th-17^th Avenues. The closure is expected to last through mid-October.

High Drive Construction- Roadway excavation and subgrade preparation are nearly finished. Aggregate placement is beginning and curb and gutter will follow.  This project includes pavement reconstruction, CSO storage facilities, storm, sewer, swales, and water main replacement from 29^th Avenue to Bernard Street. Phase One construction is expected to last until mid-October. Phase Two of this project, Bernard Street to Hatch Road will begin spring of 2015.

Community Development Sidewalk Project- Crews are working in two neighborhoods: Logan and Emerson-Garfield.  All obstructions are sidewalk related and are barricaded by the contractor.  All street obstructions are minor due to moving equipment. This project involves construction of concrete curb and sidewalk, concrete curb and sidewalk removal.

Francis Ave. from Division to Crestline- Crews expect to finish paving the north half of Francis within the week. Traffic is scheduled to be flipped Sunday night while crews transition to the southern half.  This project will rehabilitate Francis Avenue from Division to Crestline Streets.  The work is curb to curb and includes installation of ADA curb ramps, where needed. 

WSDOT

US 2/Espanola Road to Interstate 90- Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, expect intermittent lane closures in the vicinity of Flint Rd. for highway resurfacing and the installation of a traffic signal system. Flint Road is closed from US 2 to the south.  A detour is available.   

US 2/Airport Interchange Vicinity- Monday through Thursday, Sept. 15-18, from about 9 a.m. until as late as 3 p.m., be alert for lane restrictions on US 2 in the vicinity of the airport interchange for bridge joint and deck repairs.  All on and off ramps open.

Country Homes Blvd.- The southbound lanes are closed from Cedar to Wall.
