Local Road Construction Update

SPOKANE VALLEY

8^th Ave from McKinnon to Fancher - Closed through mid-September for paving, striping and shoulder-work. Signs redirect traffic via Carnahan, 16th and Bettman/Dickey.  

Sprague Ave from Vista to Herald - Reduced to two lanes westbound through early September for resurfacing, stormwater drainage improvements, and sidewalk work.

Appleway Boulevard from Thierman to Park - Reduced to two lanes eastbound through early October for resurfacing, stormwater drainage improvements, and sidewalk work. The new sidewalk on the south side of the road will be available for pedestrian use for the remainder of the project.

Sprague Avenue between University and Pines - Closed Friday, September 19 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Valleyfest Hearts of Gold parade.

SPOKANE CITY
Ruby from Desmet to Boone- One lane and sidewalk closed from Sept. 15-19 for demolition work.

Hawthorne and U.S. 2- Replacement of a damaged signal pole starts Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m. Work is expected to be completed by 3 p.m.  The signal will be placed in red-red flash during this time. Both the northbound and westbound dedicated right turn lanes will remain open, but the adjacent northbound and westbound through-lane will be closed.  As a result, both the northbound and westbound will have only one through lane open.

Main Sidewalk Closure-  The sidewalk on Main between Browne and Division will be closed until Sept.17 for sidewalk repairs.

Main Sidewalk Closure, Take 2- The sidewalk on Main and Howard and a traffic lane on Main will be closed until Sept. 22 to replace sidewalks. 

Main Sidewalk Closure, Take 3- A section of sidewalk on Main between Wall St. and Post St. is closed until Sept. 27 to place dumpsters. 

Howard Street from 1st Ave. to railroad tracks-  Blocked for crane work at the Wells Fargo building.

Division Street Sidewalk Closure- The sidewalk closure at 1120 N. Division has been extended until Sept. 30 for demolition work.

Grind and Overlay Project- Work has resumed on the Excell portion of the project. This will be followed up with asphalt patching, along with new curb and sidewalk construction. The project calls for completion of grind and overlay repair on the following streets:

o   Pittsburg Street from Heroy Avenue to Wellesley Avenue and Heroy Avenue from Helena Street to Pittsburg Street. Work is substantially complete.

o   Arthur Street from 13^th Avenue to Newark Avenue (excluding 9^th Avenue west to 9^th Avenue east)

o   Excell Avenue from G Street to the beginning of the cul-de-sac east of Audubon Drive. Removal work has begun.

East Sprague Lane Closure- One lane will be open each direction on Sprague from Hatch to Scott Streets for construction of a combined sewer overflow facility on City property across from the City’s Sewer Maintenance Facility.

Kendick Water Main Installation- Crews will replace an 8-inch water main in Kendick Avenue from approximately 1,200 feet west of Nine Mile Road to Nine Mile road. Detour signage is in place on State Route 291. Current residents will be allowed access to their property.

Greene St. Bridge Lane closure- Greene Street from Marshall Avenue to Carlisle Avenue will be reduced to one lane each direction for six weeks. Carlisle at Greene will also be closed and a detour in place. This project will pull a 24” pipe through the existing 30” steel main suspended under the Greene Street Bridge. The new pipe will not add weight to the bridge due to the smaller amount of water that will be flowing through the new pipe.

Lincoln/Monroe Intersection Construction- A new 4-way stop has been installed at 10^th and Madison to help with traffic in and out of Huckleberry’s Natural Market. Crews expect to have the intersection at 14^th and Lincoln open in the coming weeks. The project includes reconstruction of the street by replacing the asphalt surfacing, including ADA ramps as needed. Lincoln/Monroe street will be closed from 7^th-17^th Avenues. The closure is expected to last through mid-October.

High Drive Construction- Roadway excavation and subgrade preparation are nearly finished. Aggregate placement is beginning and curb and gutter will follow.  This project includes pavement reconstruction, CSO storage facilities, storm, sewer, swales, and water main replacement from 29^th Avenue to Bernard Street. Phase One construction is expected to last until mid-October. Phase Two of this project, Bernard Street to Hatch Road will begin spring of 2015.

Community Development Sidewalk Project- Crews are working in two neighborhoods: Logan and Emerson-Garfield.  All obstructions are sidewalk related and are barricaded by the contractor.  All street obstructions are minor due to moving equipment. This project involves construction of concrete curb and sidewalk, concrete curb and sidewalk removal.

Francis Ave. from Division to Crestline- Crews expect to finish paving the north half of Francis within the week. Traffic is scheduled to be flipped Sunday night while crews transition to the southern half.  This project will rehabilitate Francis Avenue from Division to Crestline Streets.  The work is curb to curb and includes installation of ADA curb ramps, where needed.

US 2/Espanola Road to Interstate 90- Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, expect intermittent lane closures in the vicinity of Flint Rd. for highway resurfacing and the installation of a traffic signal system. Flint Road is closed from US 2 to the south.  A detour is available.   

US 2/Airport Interchange Vicinity- Monday through Thursday, Sept. 15-18, from about 9 a.m. until as late as 3 p.m., be alert for lane restrictions on US 2 in the vicinity of the airport interchange for bridge joint and deck repairs.  All on and off ramps open.

I-90/Liberty Park to Havana Street- Be alert for evening and overnight lane and ramp closures for replacement of light poles.  

I-90/Vicinity of University Road- On Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15-16, from about 9 p.m. until as late as 6 a.m. the following morning, westbound I-90 will be reduced to one through lane for repairs to message signs. Be alert for slow traffic, congestion, and delays.

SPOKANE COUNTY

Bruce Rd. Bridge- Closed for reconstruction. A detour is in place.

Country Homes Blvd.- The southbound lanes are closed from Cedar to Wall.

A Little of This; A Little of That

An asphalt causeway in the middle of Country Homes Boulevard north of Five Mile Road is going to be removed and replaced in a major construction project next year. Buses will be on holiday schedule this Wednesday, and travel is expected to be up this holiday season from recent years.

SPOKANE VALLEY

Sullivan Road at the Spokane River bridges - The northbound roadway is reduced to one lane through mid-November.

I90/SR 904 Congestion- Expect congestion on I-90 and SR 904 between Spokane and Cheney Saturday as fans travel to and from the EWU football game.

I-90/Greenacres Interchange to Liberty Lake Interchange- On Tuesday, November 12, from 9 a.m. until as late as 5 p.m., westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane to repair median cable barriers.  On Wednesday, November 13, from about 7 a.m., until as late as 3 p.m., eastbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane.  Expect slow traffic and congestion.  This work depends on weather and may be postponed during snow and icy conditions.

SR 27/32^nd Ave. to Trent Ave.- Grind out top layer of roadway and resurface with Hot Mix Asphalt.  Construct ADA sidewalk ramps.

North Spokane Corridor/Francis Avenue Bridge and Intersection Improvements- Expect congestion and delays near the Francis Avenue/Market Street intersection and the Francis Ave./Freya Street intersection as the finishing touches are put on the Francis Avenue Bridge over the BNSF railroad tracks.

US 195/Cheney-Spokane Road Interchange- Northbound and/or southbound lane restrictions.  The northbound left turn lane is closed.  Northbound drivers need to use Qualchan Road to access Cheney-Spokane Road.  The southbound off ramp to Cheney-Spokane Road is now closed so drivers will need to be alert for southbound highway traffic slowing to make right turns into Cheney-Spokane Road.

Farwell Rd. from Market to North Spokane Corridor- Closed for fall.

Johnannsen Rd.- Closed from Prairie View Elementary School to Northview Lane for sidewalk installation and road widening.

SPOKANE CITY
Greene St. Bridge Project- Lane restrictions on the bridge and on Greene Street between South Riverton Avenue and Upriver Drive. The work on the bridge will improve its load rating, allowing larger trucks and loads to use the bridge. The project includes installing fiber-reinforced polymer to the bridge deck and floor beams. 

2nd Ave. Driving and Parking Lane Closure- The northern most driving lane and parking lane will be closed on 2nd Avenue just west of the Jefferson Street intersection starting November 11 through the 14th. 

17th Ave. Closure Sewer Repair Closure- 17^th Avenue will be closed from Nov. 11 through 13t between South Latawah Street and South Upper Terrace Road for sewer service repair work.  Traffic from 17^th Avenue will be detoured to 18^th Avenue.

Spokane Falls Blvd. Closure- Spokane Falls Boulevard from Bernard to Washington is closed through November 15.  Detours direct traffic to Riverside and Washington.  Bernard Street from Main Avenue and Spokane Falls Boulevard northbound will be closed.  The work will add sewer and water line connections to the Convention Center Hotel under construction.

Centennial Trail Closure- Part of the Centennial Trail on the north side of the Spokane River from Division Street east will be closed November 11 – 29.  Pedestrians will be re-routed north on the sidewalk along the eastside of Division Street and through the Red Lion Property.  The work will remove and replace deck boards, fascia boards and pedestrian rails.

Main Ave. Closure- Main Avenue, just west of Monroe Street, is closed for sewer line repair work. Vehicles have to enter Peaceful Valley from the west, and Spokane Transit Authority buses will also serve the area from the west.  The sidewalks along Main will remain open, allowing for pedestrians and cyclists to access Peaceful Valley from downtown on Main.
 
Liberty Street Construction- Construction to rehabilitate Liberty from Oak Street to Ash Place and Ash Place from Liberty to Dalton is starting.  The road is closed.

 

Local Road Construction Update

SR 27/32^nd Ave. to Trent Ave.- Grind out top layer of roadway and resurface with Hot Mix Asphalt.  Construct ADA sidewalk ramps.

North Spokane Corridor/Francis Avenue Bridge and Intersection Improvements- Left turn movements at the Market/Francis intersection are not allowed. Expect congestion and long delays near the Francis Avenue/Market Street intersection and the Francis Ave./Freya Street intersection. Westbound Francis drivers should be alert for flaggers near the BNSF railway crossing.  The south shoulder is designated for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

US 195/Cheney-Spokane Road Interchange- Be alert for northbound and/or southbound lane restrictions.  Northbound US 195 is reduced to one through lane in the vicinity of Cheney-Spokane Road.  That restriction may be removed when the barrier is taken out.  The northbound left turn lane remains closed.  Northbound drivers need to use Qualchan Road to access Cheney-Spokane Road.  Northbound drivers should be alert for possible congestion and slowing traffic.  The southbound off ramp to Cheney-Spokane Road is now closed so drivers will need to be alert for southbound highway traffic slowing to make right turns into Cheney-Spokane Road. This is a long-term construction configuration. 

SPOKANE VALLEY
8^th Avenue just east of Wilbur Court - Closed through Tuesday, November 5 for utility work. Signs redirect traffic to 4^th Ave.

Adams from Trent to Wellesley - Closed to traffic through Friday, November 8 for sidewalk improvements.  Drivers are redirected via Evergreen or Progress.

Sands Road Bridge at Chester (Plouf) Creek - Closed until 7 a.m. Monday, November 4 for maintenance work on the bridge deck.  Signs redirect traffic to Schafer Rd.

Sullivan Road at the Spokane River bridges - Reduced to one lane each direction through November.

Wellesley between St. Charles Road and Larch Road - Narrowed lanes, delays, and parking restrictions until Friday, November 8 for sidewalk updates and improvements.

SPOKANE COUNTY
Farwell Rd.- Closed from Market to the North Spokane Corridor.

Johansen Rd.- Closed from Prairie View Elementary to Northview Lane for sidewalk installation and road widening.

Spokane Falls Blvd. Closure- Spokane Falls Boulevard from Bernard Street to Washington Street will be closed beginning Wednesday, November 6 through Friday, November 15.  Detours will be in place directing traffic to Riverside Avenue and Washington.  Bernard Street from Main Avenue and Spokane Falls Boulevard northbound will be closed to thru traffic with local access only.  The work will be to add sewer and water line connections to the Convention Center Hotel under construction.

Monroe St. Lane Closure- North Monroe Street will have a southbound lane closure at Bridge Avenue November 4 to 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for street work on the Kendall Yards development.

Grant St. Closure- South Grant Street between 3^rd Avenue and I-90 will be completely closed Monday, November 4 – Wednesday, November 6 for water work.

Euclid Ave. Water Main Replacement- This project replaces the current 28-inch water main with a 30-inch main in Euclid Avenue.  The new main begins at Euclid & Mayfair and continue to Crestline, with a jog to the north around Gonzaga Prep High School. Euclid is closed from Nevada to Mayfair.

US 195 and SR 27 Congestion- On Saturday, October 12, expect congestion on US 195 and SR 27 between Spokane and Pullman, plus SR 26 between Vantage and Colfax, as fans travel to and from the WSU Cougar football game. 

US 2/Vicinity of Deer Heights Road- Monday through Wednesday, October 14-16, from 7 p.m. in the evening until as late as 6:30 a.m. the following morning, US 2 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the vicinity of Deer Heights Road to install a new water line.  Deer Heights Road access on the south of US 2 will be limited to right turn in/right turn out from eastbound lanes.  Westbound access to and from Deer Heights Road will be via Lucas Drive.

I-90/ Geiger Blvd.to Sullivan Road in Metro Spokane area- Monday through Thursday, October 14-17, from about 9 a.m. to as late as 3 p.m., drivers on eastbound and/or westbound I-90 in the Spokane area should be alert for left or right lane and/or shoulder closures with possible congestion and slower traffic. Crews will be insptecting overhead sign structures.

I-90/Division Street to Liberty Park- Replace conduit, poles, wiring, and light fixtures including installing luminaires on I-90 from Latah Creek to the Hamilton Interchange.

I-90 Westbound/Liberty Lake-Harvard Road Interchange Roundabout- I-90 westbound drivers exiting at Liberty Lake should be alert for congestion, traffic backups, and delays on the westbound off ramp.  Drivers on Harvard Road should be alert for lane restrictions, slow traffic, and congestion with possible delays. 

US 195/Cheney-Spokane Road Interchange- Drivers should be alert for northbound and/or southbound lane restrictions during evening and overnight hours. Northbound US 195 is reduced to one through lane in the vicinity of Cheney-Spokane Road.  Northbound drivers need to use Qualchan Road to access Cheney-Spokane Road.  Northbound drivers should be alert for possible congestion and slowing traffic.  The southbound off ramp to Cheney-Spokane Road is now closed so drivers will need to be alert for southbound highway traffic slowing to make right turns into Cheney-Spokane Road. SPOKANE CITY
Lewis and Clark Band Car Wash- Lewis and Clark High School will host a car wash to raise money Saturday, October 12.  Fifth Avenue will be closed between Washington and Stevens Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the event.

Main Street Yoga Street Event- Main Street Yoga will be hosting an opening event from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12. Main Street will be closed from Post to Wall. Post will be closed northbound from Riverside to Main Street. Parking will NOT be allowed at meters along that stretch.

 

Spokane Marathon, Sunday, Oct. 13-

 o   6:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.- Spokane Falls Boulevard will be closed from Stevens to Post, Howard and Wall Street will be closed from Main to Spokane Falls.

o   7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.- temporary closures of Lincoln and Monroe Street from Bridge Avenue to Main Street, temporary closures of Riverside at Cedar, the right hand lane at Sunset and Government way westbound will be closed.

o   8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.- There will be times when traffic is momentarily held up for runners to cross at

Greene St. Bridge Work- A project to increase the life of the Greene Street Bridge over the Spokane River is under way. Anticipate lane restrictions on the bridge and on Greene Street between South Riverton Avenue and Upriver Drive. The work on the bridge will improve its load rating, allowing larger trucks and loads to use the bridge.  The project includes installing fiber-reinforced polymer to the bridge deck and floor beams. On Sunday October 12^th two-way traffic will be moved from the southbound to the northbound lanes.

Maple St. Bridge Work Starts- Work on installing an Impact Attenuator (a device intended to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and motorists resulting from a motor vehicle collision) begins in the southbound lane of the Maple Street Bridge, Tuesday, October 15 at 9 a.m. 

Fourth Ave. Work- Fourth Avenue between Lincoln and Wall Street will be completely closed Wednesday, October 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for crane work on private property.

Stevens Street Avista Work- Stevens Street between Main Avenue and Riverside Avenue will have two southbound lanes closed 24 hours a day through October 14 for Avista work.

Habitat for Humanity Projects-East 22^nd Avenue between Freya Street and Thor Street will be completely closed Monday, October 14 through October 24 for two Habitat for Humanity projects.  The roadway will be completely closed to thru traffic with local access provided.  The sidewalk on the south side of the street will remain open and the detour will be in place using East 23^rd Avenue.

WSU Parking Lot Intersection Work-100 East Spokane Falls Boulevard at WSU’s south parking lot intersection will be completely closed Friday, October 11 – 24 for installation of a new concrete intersection. East Martin Luther King Way will be the detour route.

Crestline Rehabilitation Project Nearly Finished- Paving is currently underway.  This project will replace the water main in Crestline from 37^th to 57^th avenues; provide curb-to-curb rehabilitation of the street from 44^th to 53^rd avenues; and add bike lanes, sidewalks and stormwater swales along the 44^th to 53^rd avenue stretch. 

Rockwood Blvd. Rehabilitation- Paving begins next week with the project being substantially complete in the next two weeks, weather permitting.  A project to rehabilitate Rockwood Boulevard from Cowley to Southeast Boulevard and Upper Terrace Road from Rockwood Boulevard to 17th Avenue continues. Drainage pipe installation work is occurring at the intersection of 10^th Avenue, Sumner and Rockwood.  Sewer line work will begin, October 11 in the intersection as well.

Traffic Calming Work Continues-Work on a variety of improvements to promote traffic calming throughout the City has begun and will continue through the end of October. The following streets will be affected:

o   Illinois – Signs and striping
o   Mission, Cook and Regal – Ramps and striping
o   Manito Boulevard and 29^th – Ramps and striping
o   37^th from Bernard to Browne - Sidewalks
o   Maple from 8^th to 9^th  - Bumpouts
o   Adams Street from Montgomery to Mansfield – Sidewalks and ADA ramps
o   Horizon Avenue and F Street – Sidewalks and ADA ramps
o   Maple Street from Chelan to Fairview – Sidewalks and ADA ramps
o   Ash Street from Fairview to Cleveland – Sidewalks and ADA ramps

 Sewer Tank Construction- Construction on a 1 million gallon tank to reduce overflows from combined sanitary and stormwater sewers on the west side of Ray Street at 21st Avenue is underway.
On Wednesday October 16^th from 9AM to 3PM southbound Ray Street will be reduced to one lane from 19^th Avenue to 22^nd Avenue.  Parkwood Drive will be closed from Green Street to Ray Street. 

Liberty St. Construction- Construction to rehabilitate Liberty from Oak Street to Ash Place and Ash Place from Liberty to Dalton is beginning.  The road is closed with local access only.

Post Street Closure- Post Street near City Hall is closed for Avista work on City Hall Plaza and new crossing work between City Hall Plaza and Riverfront Park.  Crews will use this closure to work on sidewalks at the southwest corner of the Post Street bridge, a new Centennial Trail connection into Riverfront Park, additional sidewalk work on the west side of Post Street and for the re-striping of Post street.

Fiske St. Construction- This project will pave Fiske Street from 19th to 17th avenues, install curbs, sidewalks and ADA curb ramps, where needed, and replace current or install new stormwater drainage, where needed.  The project will place pavement between the existing curbs on Fiske from 17^th to 18^th and install new curbs and sidewalks, and pave on Fiske from 18^th to 19^th.  Full road closure on Fiske between 17^th Street and 19^th Street.

Third Ave. Division to Arthur- Work to rehabilitate Third Avenue from Division east to Arthur continues.  The project also includes replacing a 12-inch water main.  Local access to businesses will be maintained.  Work will continue into October. Arthur and Sherman continue to be the detour routes with periodic closures on one or the other street as needed.Paving the final lift on the north half for Third Ave. is expected to take place the week of October 14^th.

SPOKANE COUNTY
Bruce Road- Work expected to be complete by or on October 11.

Cheney Plaza Bridge- This bridge, located off Nealy Rd., is closed with a one lane bypass open. Expect delays.

Pittsburg Road- Pittsburg Rd. off U.S. 2 is closed for sewer work.

I-90/Latah Creek Bridge & Downtown Spokane Viaduct- Through 3 p.m. today, Thursday, October 3, drivers on eastbound and/or westbound I-90 in downtown Spokane should be alert for lane closures on the Latah Creek bridge and downtown overhead freeway viaduct with possible congestion and slower traffic. Crews are doing routine bridge inspection and bridge joint repairs.

I-90/Division Street to Liberty Park- Replace conduit, poles, wiring, and light fixtures including installing luminaires on I-90 from Latah Creek to the Hamilton Interchange.

I-90 Westbound/Liberty Lake-Harvard Road Interchange Roundabout- I-90 westbound drivers exiting at Liberty Lake should be alert for congestion, backups, and delays on the westbound off ramp. Drivers on Harvard Road should be alert for lane restrictions, rough roadway, slow traffic, and congestion with possible delays. Southbound Harvard Rd. is reduced to one lane. Mission Ave. is open.

US 195/Cheney-Spokane Road Interchange- Be alert for northbound and/or southbound lane restrictions during evening and overnight hours. Northbound US 195 is reduced to one lane in the vicinity of Cheney-Spokane Road. Northbound drivers need to use Qualchan Road to access Cheney-Spokane Road. Northbound drivers should be alert for possible congestion and slowing traffic. The southbound off ramp to Cheney-Spokane Road is now closed so drivers need to be alert for southbound highway traffic slowing to make right turns into Cheney-Spokane Road.

SPOKANE VALLEY 14^th Ave from Custer to Carnahan - lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until October 14 for a stormwater upgrade project. 

Adams from Trent to Wellesley - Closed to traffic around the clock until the end of October for sidewalk improvements.  Drivers are redirected via Evergreen or Progress. 

Indiana between Pines Rd and Mirabeau Pkwy - Reduced to one lane each direction until late-October for street resurfacing.

Sullivan Road at the Spokane River bridges - Reduced to one lane each direction starting Monday, October 7 at 6 a.m. until late October.

Wellesley between St. Charles Rd and Larch Rd - Narrowed lanes, delays, and parking restrictions until the end of October for sidewalk updates and improvements.

SPOKANE CITY
Greene St. Bridge Work- A project to increase the life of the Greene Street Bridge over the Spokane River is under way.  Through mid-October, anticipate lane restrictions on the bridge and on Greene Street between South Riverton Avenue and Upriver Drive. The work on the bridge will improve its load rating, allowing larger trucks and loads to use the bridge.  The project includes installing fiber-reinforced polymer to the bridge deck and floor beams.  Additionally, utility conduit will be installed along the underside of the bridge and other related work will be completed. 
 
Maple St. Bridge Work Starts Tuesday- Bridge crews will close one south bound lane Tuesday, October 8 through Thursday, October 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Stevens St. Lane Closure- Stevens Street between Main and Riverside Ave. will have two southbound lanes closed 24 hours a day for Avista work through Monday, October 14.

Wall St. Closure Saturday- Wall Street between Sprague and 1^st avenues will have full closure, Saturday, October 5, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for work at 705 west 1^st Avenue.

Crestline Rehabilitation Project Nearly Finished- Paving is currently underway.  This project replaces the water main in Crestline from 37^th to 57^th avenues; provide curb-to-curb rehabilitation of the street from 44^th to 53^rd avenues; and add bike lanes, sidewalks and stormwater swales along the 44^th to 53^rd avenue stretch. 

Rockwood Blvd. Rehabilitation Nearing Completion- Paving begins next week with the project being substantially complete in the next two weeks weather permitting.  A project to rehabilitate Rockwood Boulevard from Cowley to Southeast Boulevard and Upper Terrace Road from Rockwood Boulevard to 17th Avenue continues.

14th Ave. from Lincoln to Grand- This project, to rehabilitate 14^th Avenue from Lincoln to Grand Boulevard. Paving of 14^th from Grand to just west of Division, is substantially complete.  The street is paved and open to traffic.

Traffic Calming Work- Work on a variety of improvements to promote traffic calming throughout the City has begun and will continue through October. The following streets are affected:
 

o   Illinois – Signs and striping

o   Mission, Cook and Regal – Ramps and striping

o   Manito Boulevard and 29^th – Ramps and striping

o   37^th from Bernard to Browne - Sidewalks

o   Maple from 8^th to 9^th  - Bumpouts

o   Adams Street from Montgomery to Mansfield – Sidewalks and ADA ramps

o   Horizon Avenue and F Street – Sidewalks and ADA ramps

o   Maple Street from Chelan to Fairview – Sidewalks and ADA ramps

o   Ash Street from Fairview to Cleveland – Sidewalks and ADA ramps

Liberty St. Construction- Construction to rehabilitate Liberty from Oak Street to Ash Place and Ash Place from Liberty to Dalton is beginning.  The road is closed with local access only.

Post St. Closure- Post Street near City Hall will close for Avista work on City Hall Plaza and new crossing work between City Hall Plaza and Riverfront Park.  Crews will use this closure to work on sidewalks at the southwest corner of the Post Street bridge, a new Centennial Trail connection into Riverfront Park, additional sidewalk work on the west side of Post Street and for the re-striping of Post street.

Fiske St. Construction- This project will pave Fiske Street from 19th to 17th avenues, install curbs, sidewalks and ADA curb ramps, where   needed, and replace current or install new stormwater drainage, where needed.  The project will place pavement between the existing curbs on Fiske from 17^th to 18^th and install new curbs and sidewalks, and pave on Fiske from 18^th to 19^th.  Fiske is closed between 17^th  and 19^th streets.

Third Ave. from Division to Arthur- Work to rehabilitate Third Avenue from Division east to Arthur is currently being paved.  Arthur and Sherman continue to be the detour route with periodic closures on one or the other street as needed.  The project also includes replacing a 12-inch water main.  Local access to businesses will be maintained.  Work will continue into October.

Euclid Ave. Water Main Project- This project will replace the current 28-inch water main with a 30-inch water main in Euclid Avenue.  The new main will begin at Euclid & Mayfair and continue to Crestline, with a jog to the north around Gonzaga Prep High School. Local access only on Euclid from Nevada to Mayfair and on Dalton from Crestline to Perry.

SPOKANE COUNTY
Farwell Rd. from Market to North Spokane Corridor- Closed for fall.

Bruce Rd., Peone to Day Mt. Spokane Road- Road is open on weekends, closed during the week.

Pittsburg Rd at intersection with US 2- Closed for sewer work.

Johansen Road, from Prairie View Elementary to Northview Lane- Closed for sidewalk installation and road widening.

Road Construction Update For Next Week

SPOKANE COUNTY

Little Spokane River Bridge- Bridge open but minor punch list items may restrict traffic to one lane with flagging.

Farwell Road- Farwell from Market to the North Spokane Corridor is closed for the summer. Wilson Road from Farwell to Hastings is closed for sewer installation.

Upriver Drive- Lane restrictions on Upriver Drive from Dick Road to Marguerite start the week of July 22 for curb installation and to repair damaged sidewalks

Jackson Road- Jackson Road between SR 27 and Elder Road will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, July 24-25 to replace a culvert.

SPOKANE COUNTY

Hatch Road Bridge- Will be inspected July 19.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane beginning at the East end and ending in the West bound lane.  The inspection will last approximately 4 hours, beginning at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

High Bridge Lane Encroachment- Tuesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 25, High Bridge will experience lane encroachments 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Burlington Northern Bridge Maintenance- BNSF will close Napa St. between Trent Ave. and Main Ave. for bridge structure maintenance activities, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 24 to Friday, July 26.  Northbound and Southbound traffic will be detoured using North Helena Street and North Freya Street during closure.  Advance warning will be placed 48 hours in advance onsite. 

Monroe Street Bridge- The Monroe Street Bridge will be inspected July 26, 2013.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane beginning at the Northwest end and finish in the southbound lane.  The inspection will last approximately 5 hours, beginning at 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

25th Avenue Construction- Work continues on 25th Ave. from Freya to Rebecca for paving and curb repair and sidewalk and swale installation.

 

Crestline Rehabilition Project- This project will replace a 24-inch steel water main with a 36-inch ductile iron water main in Crestline St. from 57^th Ave. to Thurston Ave. then continuing to 37^th Ave. via Stone and Lee Streets.  In addition, Crestline St. from 44^th to 53^rd will be brought up to complete streets standards, including curb, sidewalk, and storm drainage.

Freya Sidewalk Construction- Freya from Ben Burr to 18^th Street has traffic restrictions for sidewalk construction. There will be delays due to one way direction of traffic at a time.

 Third Avenue from Division to Arthur- Work to rehabilitate Third Avenue from Division east to Arthur is continuing.  Sherman at 3^rd street is closed.  Arthur is the detour route.  The project also includes replacing a 12-inch water main.  One lane of traffic remains open, and local access to businesses is maintained.  Work will continue into October.

14th Avenue from Lincoln to Grand- This project will rehabilitate 14^th Avenue from Lincoln to Grand Boulevard.

Euclid Avenue Water Main Replacement- One lane will be open in each direction from Napa to Crestline. Division Street DMS, Maple/Ash and 3rd Avenue- This project involves the construction of digital information signs over the roadway at 9 locations.  There will be intermittent lane closures at these locations during installation now through mid-September.

Rockwood Boulevard Rehabilitation- A project to rehabilitate Rockwood Boulevard from Cowley to Southeast Boulevard and Upper Terrace Road from Rockwood Boulevard to 17th Avenue continues.  Base lift paving on Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of next week.  Installation of catch basins has started on Phase 2 between Garfield and Cowley.  Traffic restrictions apply in those areas.  Phase 1work continues on Rockwood from Southeast Blvd to Garfield and on Upper Terrace Road.  Those sections are closed to through traffic; local access will be maintained.

Springfield Lift Station- Springfield closed between Columbus and Superior.  North bound traffic on Columbus will continue north to Cataldo.  South bound on Superior also will be directed to Cataldo.

SPOKANE VALLEY

4^th Avenue between Progress and Sullivan - closed to through traffic from 7:00am on Wednesday, July 24 until 5:00pm on Saturday, July 27 for utility work.  Signs will redirect traffic via Progress, Sprague and Sullivan.

8^th between Barker and Long - remains closed to through traffic around the clock through Friday, July 26 for paving and sidewalk work.  Signs will redirect traffic to 4^th Avenue.

Bettman Rd between 11^th & 14^th - Expect lane reductions and brief driveway access restrictions from 7:00am to 5:00pm Mondays through Fridays, starting July 22 through the end of August for storm water drainage improvements.  At times, 12 Avenue traffic will be redirected via 8^th and Eastern.

Portions of University Rd between 4^th and 16^th - will be reduced to one lane each way on Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24^th from 6:00am to 5:00pm for utility work.  Expect narrowed lanes and congestion.

WSDOT

 

SR 27/32^nd Ave. to Trent Ave.- lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.  be alert for sidewalk restrictions when ADA ramp work is under construction or curing.  Grinding operations and traffic loop installation is underway.  Possible side road access restrictions during pavement grinding.

SR 291/Division Street to the Stevens County Line- lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.  Be alert for sidewalk restrictions near intersections when ADA ramps are under construction or curing.  Grinding and/or paving work is underway at multiple locations.  All major roadwork on this project will be underway during evening and overnight hours.  Utility cover work is also underway.  No major daytime restrictions planned. 

North Spokane Corridor/Francis Avenue Bridge and Intersection Improvements- Left turn movements at the Market/Francis intersection are not allowed.  Right turns are OK.  Expect congestion and long delays near the Francis Avenue/Market Street intersection and the Francis Ave./Freya Street intersection, especially during commute hours.  In addition, westbound motorists on Francis should be alert for flaggers directing traffic near the BNSF railway crossing. 

 

I-90/Division Street to Liberty Park-Lane restrictions on I-90, both eastbound and westbound, at the Hamilton I/C during evening and overnight hours July 23 & 24^th.  There will be intermittent shoulder closures on I-90 between Division and Hamilton during daytime hours.

I-90/Liberty Lake Interchange Westbound Off Ramp at Harvard Road/Mission Ave.- Possible intermittent lane restrictions on the westbound off ramp, Mission Ave. and/or Harvard Road for survey work.  No mainline freeway impacts.

US 195/Cheney-Spokane Road Interchange- Drivers should be alert for trucks crossing the highway during evening and overnight hours.  In general, northbound US 195 is reduced to one through lane in the vicinity of Cheney-Spokane Road.  Northbound drivers need to use Qualchan Road to access Cheney-Spokane Road.  Northbound drivers should be alert for possible congestion and slowing traffic.  The southbound off ramp to Cheney-Spokane Road is now closed so drivers will need to be alert for southbound highway traffic slowing to make right turns into Cheney-Spokane Road. This is a long-term construction configuration. 

SR 290-Trent Avenue/Just east of Hamilton Street in Spokane- On Sunday, July 21^st, beginning at around 4 a.m. until as late as noon, Trent Avenue will be reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic, directed by flaggers for bridge deck repairs.  Drivers should be alert for possible congestion.
