Local Road Construction Update

For more information on all the projects below, and to see them in relation to each 
other on a map, check out SRTC's 2015 Spokane Regional Construction Map here. The map is updated as new projects start and existing ones wrap up.

You may notice that projects underway now are more prominent while ones that will start later this construction season are more in the background.

SPOKANE VALLEY

Montgomery from University to Dartmouth - Narrowed lanes and delays beginning Monday, August 3rd from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until late August. Pedestrian route available on one side of Montgomery at all times.

Sullivan from Trent to Wellesley - Reduced to one lane in each direction through late August. 
Sullivan Road Bridge Replacement Project Area:
· The southbound Sullivan Road Bridge across the Spokane River is closed until spring 2016 for bridge demolition and replacement work.  Traffic remains reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound. 
·   Expect reductions to one lane southbound Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
·   Turns from Indiana onto northbound Sullivan are reduced to one lane.
·    Expect construction vehicles in the project area.

Valleyway between Shamrock and Flora- Closed to all traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Friday, July 31 through Monday, August 3 for pavement work.  Detour via Conklin will be posted.

The following locations will be closed to through traffic around the clock until September 2015 for water main work:
·         25th Avenue (between Bowdish and University)
·         22nd Avenue (between University and Sunrise)
·         Chinook (between Sunrise and Oberlin)
·         Oberlin (between Chinook and 16th Avenue)
·         Sunrise (between University and Chinook)

Sullivan Road Bridge - The Centennial Trail will be closed from Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Trail traffic will be detoured along Indiana Avenue between Sullivan Road and Old Mission Avenue.


Valleyway between Shamrock & Flora - Closed to all traffic from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7 for pavement work. A Detour via Conklin will be posted.

SPOKANE COUNTY
Christensen Road Bridge- Bridge closed for removal and replacement. A marked detour is in place.

Old Trails/Inland Road Paving- Road closed for reconstruction and paving. Lane restrictions from the state park to Marchand Road and Seven Mile Road to the state park.

Appleway/Spokane Bridge Road Trailhead Parking Lot- Parking lot will be closed for construction to create a trailhead.

Elliot Road Culvert Replacement- Highway 206 reduced to one lane while crews improve Elliot Road at the intersection with the highway and remove the existing culvert, followed by construction of a new concrete culvert.

Rutter Parkway from Waikiki Road to Indian Trails Road- Closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. every Monday through Thursday until August 13 for asphalt and shoulder work.

Five Mile Road Closure- Five Mile Road is closed between Vel View Drive and Gail Jean Lane untilt he end of August for gas line work.

SPOKANE CITY
Wall Street Closure- Wall Street from Main to Riverside will be closed from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a National Night Out Against Crime event (SRTC will be at this event so stop by and see us).

Wall Street Closure, Take 2- The Spokane Live at the Plaza event will close Wall Street from Sprague to Riverside between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Hamilton Street Lane Reduction- Hamilton will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction until Wednesday, Aug. 5 for paving.

Monroe/Lincoln Street Couple Work Begins TodayRemovals and stormwater structure work will begin on Cedar Street between 4th and 3rd Ave. starting Monday, August 3. Removals will also start in the southwest corner of 4th Avenue and Monroe Street. The project includes reconstruction of the street from 8th Ave. to Main Ave. and will replace the asphalt surfacing, including ADA ramps as needed.

1st Avenue from Helena to Erie Begins Today- This project is a residential grind and overlay pavement preservation project.  The work will include minor subgrade repair, crack sealing, ADA ramps, striping and traffic control as necessary.

33rd Avenue Closure- 33rd Avenue between Bernard and Division is closed for a sewer line relay and repair until Wednesday, August 5.

Ivory Street Closure- Ivory is closed from Plateau to Rockwood Pines for street re-alignment until Monday, August 17.

Spokane Falls Boulevard Lane Closure- The northern lane of Spokane Falls Blvd. west of northbound Division is closed until Sunday, September 20 for right of way work.

Francis Avenue, Division Street to East City Limits- Construction continues on this project to install Variable Message Signs, Closed Circuit TV systems, fiber optic cables, and other related miscellaneous items. Motorist will see intermittent lane closures for the duration of the project.

High Drive, Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard- The road is closed from Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard with local access only. Storm and sewer work is underway. This project includes pavement reconstruction, storm, sewer, 208 swales, and water main replacement from Bernard Street to Grand Boulevard. Phase Two construction is expected to last through the fall.

Havana Street from Glenrose to 37th- Glenrose Road from 57th Avenue to Havana Street is closed to traffic. Work has begun at the intersection of Freya and 44th with traffic and pedestrian improvements. Improvements include full width pavement replacement, complete sidewalk gaps and pilot project porous asphalt bicycle lanes.  This project will also include installation of a water transmission main between 37th Avenue and the Brown Park reservoirs at 57th Avenue.

Indiana Avenue from Division Street to Perry Street- Indiana is closed to thru traffic from Division to Dakota. This project includes full depth roadway replacement and change lane configuration to one lane each direction with bike lanes.

High Drive and Hatch Road CSO Work- 43rd Ave. from Grand to Garfield St. will be closed to traffic until late September. Drivers are advised to use the Perry Street detour. This project will construct a storage facility for CSO Basin 20, with connecting piping, interceptor inlet vault, flush systems, regulator and controls at 43rd Avenue and Garfield Street. This work is part of the Combined Sewer Overflow program.

WSDOT
SR 206/Bruce Road to Mt. Spokane State Park Gate- Be alert for long delays with flaggers and/or pilot cars directing single-lane, alternating traffic as crews repair pavement repair, do shoulder work, and chip seal.  

US 195-Southbound/I-90 to Excelsior Road- Be alert for southbound US 195 reduced to one lane to replace pavement panels.

NSC/BNSF Railway Structures/Realignment & Ped/Bike Trail Extension- Short, intermittent delays with flaggers directing traffic at pedestrian bridge.

SR 290-Trent Ave./Sullivan Road to Idaho State Line- Be alert for daytime lane restrictions between Sullivan Road and Wellesley Ave.  In addition, drivers should watch for lane restrictions on Sullivan Road between Trent and Wellesley.  

US 2/395-Division Street/Francis Ave to Farwell Road- Through Wednesday August 5 WSDOT crews will be night paving to repair wheel ruts on Division from Francis Ave. to the “Y” and US 2/ the “Y” to  Farwell Rd. Work will begin at 7 p.m. each night and end at 5:30 a.m. the following day. Traffic will be reduced to one lane the direction of work with occasional side road closures while the crew is working in that area.

SRTC is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Spokane County. Urbanized areas with populations exceeding 50,000 people are required to have an MPO. SRTC was formed to address the county's transportation planning needs. It provides coordination in planning between the public, cities, small towns, the county, the state, transit providers, and tribes.

SRTC offers services including transportation monitoring, transportation modeling, census information analysis, travel demand forecasting, historical traffic count analysis, geographic information systems, and trip generation rates.
