Transportation Bill Contains Dedicated Funding For Bike/Ped Programs

At a hearing on Friday on a new transportation reauthorization, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) confirmed that dedicated federal funding for bicycle and pedestrian programs remains in the bill. SRTC is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Spokane County. Urbanized areas with populations exceeding 50,000 people are required to have an MPO. SRTC was formed to address the county's transportation planning needs.
