STA Discusses Raising Fares

STA says it will consider increasing fares next year during budget deliberations. Here's why.

From everything I've seen, STA fares are still pretty low compared to a lot of comparably-sized cities. Anyone disagree or see an alternative to increasing fares?

The fares are low, but comparing it to other cities may not be the same. Our cost of living s lower than a lot of other cities also. It is still much cheaper than parking downtown, but will it drive people to shop at the malls where they get free parking?

I don't know about everyone else, but I would rather pay to park than park in one of those scary mall parking lots. I 'had' to visit the mall yesterday and I saw all kinds of crazy stuff; people darting between moving cars, people pulling out of parking spots then stopping to dial cell phones while blocking traffic, drivers who apparently didn't see me and tried to drive through me, and my personal favorite, drivers who stop RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STORE, then unload four kids, three strollers, multiple diaper bags and grandma, all while blocking traffic as no one can get past.
