King Co. Resident Proposes New Twist On Public Transit

Update our transportation systemThe folks over the mountains in King County have found a new platform to let citizens participate in decision-making and brainstorming at the local level. They offer a website that's a lot like a blog where people can share their thoughts and ideas in response to the question "What is your BIG idea for King County's future?" Others can view the idea, comment on it and rate them. Well, one gentleman had an idea for getting people around in a more green mode by using personalized monorails that look like amusement rides. SRTC is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Spokane County. Urbanized areas with populations exceeding 50,000 people are required to have an MPO. SRTC was formed to address the county's transportation planning needs. It provides coordination in planning between the public, cities, small towns, the county, the state, transit providers, and tribes.
