3-D Sign Could Improve Safety Conditions For Pedestrians

Japanese engineers may be onto a new way to make drivers more aware of pedestrians. They're using a virthual 3-D sign that appears to float above the road to alert traffic that a crosswalk is there. And it's significantly cheaper than some other traffic control measures that were considered. Here's the story.

SRTC is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Spokane County. Urbanized areas with populations exceeding 50,000 people are required to have an MPO. SRTC was formed to address the county's transportation planning needs. It provides coordination in planning between the public, cities, small towns, the county, the state, transit providers, and tribes.
