Guerilla Crosswalk Painter Charged With Felony

AVallejo, California man is arrested on felony vandalism charges- for painting a crosswalk. Retired Marine Anthony Cardenas said he did his pre-dawn paint job on a local busy street in the name of public safety.

Cardenas said he's seen several crashes at the intersection and almost been hit several times himself. He tried to draw attention to the problem to public officials but got no response so he decided to take matters into his own hands.
While the charges against Cardenas are serious, there's some good news. Officials are definitely taking notice now and Cardenas is being treated as a hero. DC Streetsblog has the story.

Felony? Wow I guess we need to change that law. I know government is slow, but to charge someone a felony for doing what the government should have done anyway is pretty dumb.

Yeah, seemed kind of like overkill to me too. They're really throwing the book at the poor guy.
